2019 Application are OPEN!!!
Do you have an organizational or furniture challenge with your special needs child? We know that storing and organizing all of the different medical supplies, therapy tools, paperwork, etc can be hard. We want to help. Each year we will invite families in the greater Austin area to submit their requests. This is NOT income based; this is NOT a “most votes wins” contest. We will review the requests and select one winner.
Submissions are open from January 1st-January 31st. We will select and announce the winner on Valentine’s Day. Winners will be announced publicly on our social media sites as well as contacted directly. The build will start shortly after the winner is selected. Depending on the size of the project it may be completed in weeks, but it may take a little longer if it is a large scale creation.
Adult family members (dad, mom, grandpa, aunt, etc) are encouraged, but not required, to participate in the creating process. You will be able to learn or sharpen some of your skills and be able to say that you built whatever it may be for your child. All of the supplies, tools, and master skills are provided by Casey’s Circle and Timber Hearts at no charge.

Special Thanks to Timber Hearts for providing the labor and skills for this program.
We can only pick one winner a year, but don’t worry if you are not picked. You are welcome to re-enter the following year. We also have our Home Modifications Catalog that can help you come up with some ideas that you can do on your own. We have lots of photos that show ways people have modified their homes to better fit their needs. Some modifications are fully redone rooms where others are simple fixes or using an item in a non-typical way.
We had so many amazing entries, and we really wanted to make them all. After a lot of discussions the board selected a very special bed. The parents told us that they had not been able to sleep for years as their daughter could only sleep in her crib (which she had long outgrown).
They wanted a bed that was perfect for a little girl while still providing her with the security of rails that she needed from her crib. This winner was at our very first ever special needs play date in 2012! Having known the family for so long made this project that much more special. We can’t wait to see the entries for 2019.
Our first winner was a little girl that needed extra storage in her bedroom. Her mom asked us to help store some of the medical equipment that they need to use frequently, but to store it in a way that didn’t look medical. She wanted something young and bright to go with her daughter’s room and personality. Timber Hearts did a great job of filling the space on both ends of this little girl’s bed to offer lots of additional storage. They painted it white to match the rest of her room and used purple daisies to make it extra personal for her and tie it in to Casey’s Circle at the same time (don’t worry, not all projects will have purple daisies).
