I have been seeing posts about getting hospital beds and wanted to share beautiful alternatives. We bought my daughter a day bed and my husband built the picket fence gate. This cost us around $900 for the whole thing. We love it and so does she!
Here is a pic of my sons bed.. It is made from a bunk bed set. Yes he has a tv, he has a Undiagnosed sleeping disorder, he has low serotonin levels and he wakes up through out the night. He will watch tv and play with toys then fall back asleep.
We had a large bay window in our master bedroom and built-in a window seat. We made the seat a little higher than normal to save our backs from bending over. We added cubbies for storage underneath. The cubbies held diaper supplies and linens for the bath. We had the foam on top made from a high end- medical grade foam and then there was a water protective layer between the foam and the canvas (easy to clean) exterior fabric. To most people it looks like a simple window seat; we even chose fabric to match the bedroom and take away from any medical look and feel. This was just outside the bathroom we used for bathing our daughter so it worked perfect for after the bath as well as changing diapers. The photos show a before and after.
